Hudson Valley Nonprofit Consultants is a professional network founded on the belief that communities are stronger and more resilient when we work collaboratively to address challenges and maximize opportunities. With the shared knowledge and expertise within the HVNC network, we strengthen our vital nonprofit organizations and, together, help our Hudson Valley communities to thrive.

Our Story
In the beginning there was Nonprofits TALK—a monthly workshop for Hudson Valley nonprofit professionals. For more than 3 years, NPT facilitated lively conversations and effective collaborations.

Then a mega-collaboration began with Nonprofits TALK + the Support Center exploring what’s needed to strategically strengthen nonprofit organizations in the Hudson Valley. Susan Ragusa, NPT founder, and Tonia Papke, Support Center Leadership Council member and founder of MDI Consulting, were primary creators and organizers of this new initiative.

Stronger Together kicked off in late January 2020 with a wildly successfully event that identified needs and available resources in key areas of nonprofit management and leadership in the Hudson Valley. Off to a promising start!
And then … pandemic. Stronger Together went on hold.

Still, the need for nonprofit resources and expertise didn’t go away. If anything, it got bigger.
​
By spring of 2021, Susan and Tonia were again debating how to realize the Stronger Together vision of a collaborative source of expertise for nonprofits. Was the time right for a network of nonprofit consultants in the Hudson Valley to meet those resource needs?
​
They reached out to colleagues with an invitation to convene. An interested and experienced group of consultants responded. In June 2021, Hudson Valley Nonprofit Consultants launched.

HVNC is a dedicated community of experienced and passionate consultants committed to strengthening the nonprofit sector in our region. Our mission is to collaborate, learn, and share information with local nonprofits, fostering growth, sustainability, and positive community impact.

We envision a vibrant and resilient nonprofit sector in the mid-Hudson Valley, where organizations are equipped with the expertise they need to effectively address the diversity of our communities. Through our collaborative efforts, we aim to create lasting, positive change and enhance the well-being of our region's residents.
Partnerships
The New York Community Trust Leadership Fellows is a partnership between The New York Community Trust, the Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs at Baruch College, and the Center for Nonprofit Strategy and Management.
Support Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created as part of an international network of management support organizations (Support Centers of America) originally established in 1971. We have been a trusted partner to nonprofits in the greater tri-state area (NJ/NY/CT) for more than 25 years.
