Launching HVNC and the Experts Newsletter

Updated: Jul 20, 2022

I have always been a networker, a go-to source for resources connecting people who can benefit from others' experience or expertise. When I began Nonprofits TALK, a monthly workshop that met in person pre-pandemic, the goal was to bring nonprofit professionals together to discuss mutual challenges and share solutions.

Hudson Valley Nonprofit Consultants is the next-step initiative. I am honored to be the co-founder with Tonia Papke of MDI Consulting and to write the inaugural blog celebrating our launch events in February: HVNC Ask an Expert and Expert Directory services, and our first featured expert public program.

Connecting to be Stronger Together

Some brief background: HVNC had a dynamic though indirect start in Stronger Together, a joint endeavor of Nonprofits TALK and the Support Center in NYC. (This "creation story" explains more.) With an initial core group of consultants, HVNC is getting underway.

We'll continue to operate our consulting services independently. Our collective goal is to demonstrate that communities are stronger and more resilient when professionals work collaboratively to address challenges and maximize opportunities. Stronger together, experts and nonprofits help our Hudson Valley communities to thrive.

The HVNC blog will appear monthly, written by different professionals in our HVNC Expert Directory. The aim is to spotlight consultants' areas of focus and to provide a forum for presenting our individual voices and priorities.

Advocating for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

HVNC will participate in Black History Month Kingston with a Zoom session led by Ciara Walton, DEIB consultant, on the changing workplace. Ciara will address key issues of fairness and equity, along with wellness, remote and hybrid work structures, and "The Great Resignation" in employee turnover. (Time and date are 10 to 11 A.M. on Friday, February 18. Contact me to attend.

A last point — and promise: Whatever the challenge, Hudson Valley nonprofit organizations need not go it alone. Confident, capable consultants are at hand for general advice and customized solutions. Welcome to HVNC a reliable first stop for finding that expertise.
